As we did for the 2021 season, we want to make some special accommodations for new teams with respect to eligibility for rookie awards and district points.
For the 2022 season, 2021* and 2022 rookie teams will be eligible for:
- all rookie awards.
- if they are in a District, they receive the 10 district points granted to rookie teams and will be eligible for the 5 district point second-year team bonus in 2023.
These teams will not be eligible, though, for the Chairman’s Award.
2020 rookies in the District system will receive the 5 district points granted to second-year teams and will be eligible for the Chairman’s Award.
These decisions were not easy, but I believe they are a fair middle path between the extremes of not granting any accommodation in 2022 for 2020 and 2021 rookie teams and having three years’ worth of teams eligible for rookie awards and district points.
The 2022 season is slowly taking shape, and I am so excited to get back to in-person events!

*This may seem like semantics, but 2021 rookie teams will be 2022 veteran teams, even though they are eligible for some rookie benefits. This means 2021 rookie teams will pay the 2022 veteran registration fee, show 2021 as their rookie year in the system, and be able to opt out of the AndyMark drive base kit (in exchange for a voucher, part of what was meant when I said “a Kit of Parts that is much more like what you saw in 2020…” in this April blog) if they prefer.
